WASHINGTON - League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Deb Callahan released the following statement today after Gov.-elect Jon Corzine (NJ) appointed Rep. Bob Menendez (NJ-13) to replace him in the U.S. Senate for the remainder of his current term.
"The League of Conservation Voters congratulates Representative Bob Menendez on his appointment to the U.S. Senate to fill the New Jersey Senate seat vacated by Governor-elect Jon Corzine.
"With a lifetime LCV score of 92% and a perfect 100% score on our 2004 scorecard, Rep. Menendez has an outstanding pro-environment record in the House of Representatives to take with him to the U.S. Senate. He will be following in the foot steps of a proven environmentalist, and together they reflect the best environmental traditions of the Garden State.
"We look forward to continuing working with Rep. Menendez on a pro-conservation agenda as he joins the U.S. Senate."
