WASHINGTON - League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Deb Callahan released the following statement today congratulating Rep. John Dingell (D-MI) for his 50 years of service in the House of Representatives and leadership on pro-environmental legislation.
"The League of Conservation Voters would like to congratulate Representative John Dingell on fifty years of service in the U.S. House of Representatives.
"Throughout his career in Congress, Rep. Dingell has been at the forefront of many of our nation's most important environmental laws, authoring both the National Environmental Policy Act and the Endangered Species Act, as well as playing a major role in enacting the Clean Water Act. With a perfect 100% score on LCV's 2004 scorecard, Rep. Dingell has a strong record of preserving and improving both Michigan and America's natural resources. Additionally, he has been a leader in fighting attempts by the Bush Administration and past executive and legislative branch anti-environmental officials to gut our environmental and public health protections.
"We look forward to continue working with Rep. Dingell on a pro-conservation agenda for many years to come."
