League of Conservation Voters Says Bush Administration Light Truck Mileage Revisions Represent Baby Steps When Adult Strides Are Needed

WASHINGTON, DC - League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Deputy Legislative Director Nat Mund today issued the following statement following a Bush Administration announcement of increases in CAFÉ standards for light trucks.

"If President Bush is as serious as he claims about ending America's addiction to oil, he would understand that his new Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards for SUV's and light trucks represent baby steps when adult strides are needed. Increasing mileage standards less than two miles-per-gallon over a period of four years is just weak."
