WASHINGTON, DC – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the independent political voice for the environment, today announced its endorsement of Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick in the race for Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District, citing his record in Congress of supporting energy efficiency and conservation measures while voting against billions in giveaways to big oil.
“LCV is pleased to endorse Mike Fitzpatrick, a member of Congress who is working to solve our energy problems with common-sense solutions like making vehicles go farther on a gallon of gas. He has also opposed government giveaways to oil companies already making record profits,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “Mike Fitzpatrick knows America needs a new, clean and efficient energy future, and his determination to find real solutions exemplifies how public service should be conducted. He is a credit to the 8th District.”
In addition to his leadership on clean energy, Rep. Fitzpatrick supports protecting the Arctic Refuge from drilling and has voted to protect national forests. He is also a longtime champion of farmland and open space preservation efforts.
“As a County Commissioner for 10 years, I fought hard to protect and preserve the environment and to put together a plan to permanently preserve 10,000 acres of farmland, open space and critical natural habitat. I have taken that ethic to the nation’s capital as I continue to fight to protect our natural resources and to create a cleaner, safer energy future,” said Fitzpatrick.
