Washington, DC - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the independent political voice for the environment, today announced its endorsement of Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-02) for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives, citing his outstanding leadership on alternative energy and conservation issues.

"LCV is thrilled to endorse Rep. Frank LoBiondo for re-election," LCV President Gene Karpinski said.  "Rep. LoBiondo has been an environmental leader for the people of New Jersey throughout his tenure in Congress.  He consistently supports commonsense conservation measures that not only help the pocketbooks of consumers, but also protect our environment, such as making new cars go further on a gallon of gas.  Rep. LoBiondo clearly understands that the key to a brighter tomorrow is to invest in clean, renewable energy sources."

Rep. LoBiondo has been a leader on legislation to increase energy efficiency.  He was an original cosponsor of bipartisan legislation sponsored by Rep. Sherwood Boehlert (NY-24) that would require a 10 percent increase in fuel efficiency for new cars beginning in 2016.   Rep. LoBiondo is also a strong believer that by investing in American innovation, we can find real solutions to our energy problems that will end our dangerous dependence on foreign oil.

In addition to his commitment to renewable energy, Rep. LoBiondo has been a powerful supporter of conservation measures, both in New Jersey and nationwide.  He fought to protect New Jersey's coast from offshore drilling proposals and successfully secured funding to expand Southern New Jersey's Cape May and Forsythe National Wildlife Refuges. Rep. LoBiondo also voted to preserve Alaska's beautiful Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for future generations, one of our country's last truly wild places.

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters," Rep. LoBiondo said. "We in South Jersey have long known how important it is to preserve our unique environment - it is a local treasure that we all grew up knowing and want to ensure future generations also have the opportunity to enjoy."
