WASHINGTON, DC - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the independent political voice for the environment, today announced its endorsement of Darcy Burner in the race for Washington's 8th Congressional District, citing her commitment to common sense energy and conservation policies.
"LCV is proud to endorse Darcy Burner," said LCV President Gene Karpinski. "Darcy Burner is committed to finding real solutions to solve our country's energy challenges. As a mother and businesswoman, she understands that investing in alternative energy not only means a healthier tomorrow for our children, but a brighter future with more jobs for American workers. We believe Darcy Burner would be an outstanding champion for the 8th District in Congress."
In addition to supporting clean energy investments, Ms. Burner also believes Congress must quickly take action to stop and reverse global warming. If elected to Congress, Ms. Burner would work toward reinstating important environmental protections that have been gutted by the Bush Administration and current Congress that help ensure Americans have clean air and water. She would also work to protect America's National Parks and wilderness areas.
"I'm incredibly honored to have the support of LCV," Darcy Burner said. "Reshaping the nation's policies on environmental protection is a top priority for me - our children deserve a legacy of clean air, land and water. They deserve a legacy of innovation and visionary thinking when it comes to energy policy. This is my goal, and this is what I look forward to doing when elected to Congress."
