WASHINGTON, DC – League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement after League of Conservation Voters endorsed candidates were swept to victory in two key races:

“Today is a great day for the environment in Rhode Island, Arizona and for the country as a whole.  Last night, Senator Lincoln Chafee and former State Senator Gabrielle Giffords LCV endorsed candidates won their primaries – further evidence that America is looking for new answers to our energy challenges and is eager to create a new economy based on the development of clean and renewable sources of energy.

We would like to congratulate LCV endorsed candidates Lincoln Chafee and Gabrielle Giffords for winning their primaries.  Each of these candidates are strongly positioned for the general election in November.”
