Washington, DC – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the independent political voice for the environment, today announced its endorsement of Ron Klein in the race for Florida’s 22nd Congressional District seat, citing his support for investing in renewable energy and his commitment to protecting Florida’s coastline and other natural treasures.

"LCV is proud to endorse Ron Klein, a candidate who, like many Americans, believes in finding commonsense solutions to our energy challenges,” LCV President Gene Karpinski said.  "He understands that investing in American innovation will help put us on the right path towards a clean energy future.  Ron Klein knows that Florida’s beautiful coastline is an important part of its identity and economy, and has fought to protect Florida’s coasts from offshore drilling.  We believe Mr. Klein will be an outstanding leader in Congress."

In addition to his commitment to protecting Florida’s coasts, Mr. Klein has been a strong supporter of many Florida conservation measures over the years.  As a state senator, Mr. Klein voted for the original Everglades restoration legislation.  He also supported Florida Forever, the state conservation program that has protected over one million acres of Florida land in the last five years.

Mr. Klein understands that global warming is a serious problem that must be addressed immediately and will support legislation to reduce harmful emissions.  He also pledged to protect the beautiful Arctic National Wildlife Refuge – one of America’s last truly wild places – from drilling.

Mr. Klein said, "I am proud to have the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters. LCV's tireless commitment to the environment in Florida, and the entire country, is an example for all of us to follow.  In South Florida we have important work to do protecting the Everglades, fighting for clean air and water and holding polluters accountable.  I look forward to working with LCV to achieve these goals."
