Washington, DC – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the independent political voice for the environment, today announced its endorsement of Rep. Jim Saxton in the race for New Jersey’s 3rd District House seat, citing his support for a new economy based on new, clean and renewable energy and real solutions for global warming.

“LCV is pleased to endorse Jim Saxton because he understands the importance of putting this country on the right path towards energy independence,” said LCV Vice President for Political Affairs and Public Education Tony Massaro.  “Rep. Saxton believes in commonsense solutions to America’s energy challenges that will help consumers while improving our environment, such as making new cars go further on a gallon of gas.  As Congress makes important decisions that will affect the future of American energy policy for generations to come, we know Rep. Saxton will continue to stand for the best interests of the Garden State and America as a whole.”

Rep. Saxton voted against the 2005 energy bill that larded billions in taxpayer subsidies on oil companies while doing little to wean America’s dependence on oil or to help build a clean energy future. He also voted to increase fuel economy standards for automobiles and has stood against drilling in the beautiful Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

"I am pleased to have received the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters, one of the most respected environmental groups in the country," said Rep. Saxton, Vice Chairman of the House Fisheries Conservation and Oceans Subcommittee. "They have been my partners in many efforts to fight for better conservation of our natural resources."
