New York, New York –– The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) and the National League of Conservation Voters (LCV) today jointly endorsed Michael Arcuri in the race for New York’s 24th Congressional District.

“NYLCV is proud to offer its endorsement to Michael Arcuri, whose environmental vision for New York reveals a true commitment to innovation in the energy sector that will greatly benefit New Yorkers,” said NYLCV Executive Director Marcia Bystryn.  “We enthusiastically support him as the candidate whose policies will help to improve the environmental health of this district for years to come.”

"Sherry Boehlert is the 'environmental green giant' in the United States House of Representatives and will leave behind big shoes to fill," said Rhea Jezer, board member of NYLCV and a resident of the 24th congressional district. "We believe Michael Arcuri is the best candidate in this race to carry on Congressman Boehlert's time-honored, non-partisan environmental tradition in this district."

"LCV is proud to endorse Michael Arcuri," said LCV President Gene Karpinski. "We believe Michael Arcuri's commonsense approach to solving our country's energy problems will make him an environmental leader in Congress.  He knows that by investing in clean, renewable energy, we can build a stronger economy while protecting our existing resources and creating good American jobs."

Michael Acuri has outlined an energy policy as one of his top priorities, which calls for greater support for the development of alternative energy sources to reduce pollution, lower energy costs, and create new businesses. He also supports giving tax breaks to encourage state-of-the-art energy policies for the future, as opposed to giving tax breaks to oil industries to build new refineries that permit them to continue profiting from oil exploitation.

Paid for by League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, 202-785-8683 and not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.

The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) was founded in 1989 as a non-partisan, policy making and political action organization that works to make environmental protection a top priority with elected officials, decision-makers and the voters by evaluating incumbent performance and endorsing and electing environmental leaders to office in New York State.
