New York, New York -- The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the independent political voice for the environment, and the New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) today jointly endorsed Rep. Sue Kelly for re-election in the race for New York's 19th Congressional District.

"LCV is proud to endorse Rep. Sue Kelly for re-election," LCV President Gene Karpinski said. "During her tenure in Congress, Rep. Kelly has supported common sense solutions to move this country toward a clean energy future, such as requiring new cars to go further on a gallon of gas. She also believes Congress should take strong action to reduce the threat of global warming. We applaud Rep. Kelly's commitment to investing in clean energy and to protecting public health and our environment."

"Rep. Kelly has consistently put New York's health and safety above White House politics," said NYLCV Executive Director Marcia Bystryn. "She has fought hard to protect our water sources from unregulated pollution and to move our nation toward a cleaner energy policy. We are delighted to endorse her for re-election."

Rep. Kelly earned an exceptional 92 percent this year in LCV's National Environmental Scorecard. In addition to Rep. Kelly's support for creating a clean energy future, Rep. Kelly has opposed backwards-looking policies that do little to solve our energy challenge such as offshore drilling. She also voted against the 2005 energy bill, arguably the most anti-environmental piece of legislation in the last thirty years

"I'm flattered to have the endorsement of both the League of Conservation Voters and the New York League of Conservation Voters, and that they have been willing to validate an environmental record of which I am extremely proud," said Rep. Kelly said.
