Washington, DC – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the independent political voice for the environment, today announced its endorsement of John Sarbanes in the race for Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District seat.
“LCV is proud to endorse John Sarbanes, a candidate who is committed to real solutions to America’s energy challenges, such as helping this country transition to a clean energy future by increasing our use of renewable energy sources,” LCV President Gene Karpinski said. “John is also committed to protecting and restoring the Chesapeake Bay for the benefit and enjoyment of Maryland communities. We believe John Sarbanes will be an excellent voice in Congress for the people of Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District.”
In addition to his support for alternative energy and improving the Chesapeake Bay, Mr. Sarbanes is committed to preserving this country’s last wild places for the enjoyment of future generations. He is also dedicated to upholding important environmental and public health measures, such as the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts.
Mr. Sarbanes recognizes the serious threat that global warming poses to our future, and if elected, would work to reduce global warming emissions.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters. America needs a plan that matches the resources of the federal government with the entrepreneurial skills of private industry to create the next generation of clean energy," Sarbanes said. "An Apollo-like conservation investment of federal resources will boost
our economy while creating clean, renewable energy sources. If elected, I will vigorously urge the Bush Administration to allow the United States to once again take its proper role as a leader on climate change discussions and resource conservation.”
