WASHINGTON, D.C. - League of Conversation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski today announced that communications strategist David Sandretti has been hired as LCV's new Communications Director.
"We are thrilled to welcome David Sandretti on board as LCV's new Communications Director. With over 20 years of communications experience, David will lead LCV's communications efforts as we work to hold members accountable for their votes on the environment, call on Congress to enact mandatory caps on global warming emissions and gear up for the 2008 elections," LCV President Gene Karpinski said.
Sandretti comes to LCV after more than 12 years of service in the United States Senate, where he most recently served as the Communications Director for the Committee on Environment and Public Works under Senator Jim Jeffords. Prior to joining the Committee, Sandretti served as Senator Barbara Boxer's Communications Director for ten years. Sandretti began his Senate career in the office of Senator Russ Feingold.
In addition to his experience on Capitol Hill, Sandretti has worked on several campaigns, most notably serving as the Communications Director for the Democratic Party of Oregon during the 1995 special election for seat now held by Senator Ron Wyden. Sandretti also has communications and consulting experience, including nine years as a Communications Consultant at Fingerhut Powers Smith and Associates where he specialized in labor communications and political campaigns.
In his new position at LCV, David will oversee all of LCV's communications activities, including press on LCV's campaign, legislative, educational and grassroots lobbying work. He will also direct LCV's press staff, press operations, and oversee LCV's blogs, websites and other new media.
