WASHINGTON, DC – League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement in reaction to today’s House vote to create a Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming:

We applaud Speaker Pelosi for her leadership in quickly responding to the clear message from voters this past November.  We share her commitment for firm action to reduce global warming pollution.

We are all in the same boat as we face rising temperatures and rising sea levels.   It’s high time to get paddling toward solutions.

We look forward to working with members of this committee to address global warming and bring about a clean energy future."
