WASHINGTON D.C.– President Obama will today convene a White House meeting with members of his cabinet and key Democratic and Republican senators to discuss comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation.
LCV President Gene Karpinski released the following statement about today’s meeting:
“By convening a bipartisan group of senators to discuss comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation, President Obama has demonstrated his continued commitment to putting America on the path towards a clean energy future. This meeting is an example of how lawmakers in Washington can -- and should -- set aside partisan bickering to discuss how we address the important issues of our time, such as solving the climate crisis and building a clean energy economy. In the coming weeks, we look forward to additional progress in the effort to pass bipartisan legislation that curbs global warming pollution, creates clean energy jobs and makes America more energy independent.”
