EPA Endangerment Finding a Step Towards a Cleaner, Safer, More Prosperous America

In response to the EPA’s announcement that it considers carbon pollution to be a threat to America’s public health, League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:

“With this endangerment finding, the EPA has taken a step towards a cleaner, safer, more prosperous future for our country.  The next critical step is for Congress to pass a comprehensive clean energy bill that will create millions of jobs, improve our security and protect our planet.

“50 years ago, naysayers said President Kennedy was wrong, that America couldn’t put a man on the moon in ten years.  Today, we’ll see oil companies and their allies in Congress demonstrate that same wrongheaded pessimism about the ability of the American people to make the world better.  President Obama, Administrator Jackson, and the American people know that we can do it and are moving us in the right direction.”
