WASHINGTON - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the political voice of the national environmental and conservation community, today announced its endorsement of John Barrow in the Democratic Primary contest for Georgia's 12th Congressional District.

"John Barrow grew up in Clarke County, and appreciates Georgian's desire to preserve their quality of life in the 12th district. They want clean air, land, and water for themselves and their children", said Betsy Loyless, LCV Vice President for Policy. "John's record as County Commissioner reflects his commitment to the environment and his will be an important voice for conservation in the House of Representatives."

The 12th District in Georgia contains a dozen colleges and universities, encompasses Savannah, much of Athens and Augusta and a stretch of rural counties linking these cities.

"John will ably represent the interests of his consitutents while also contributing to the national debate on issues such as improving water quality and promoting more energy efficient technologies," commented Ms. Loyless.
