WASHINGTON - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the political voice of the national environmental and conservation community, today announced its endorsement of Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D) for reelection in Illinois 2nd Congressional district.

"LCV endorsed Rep. Jackson because he continues be a strong advocate for environmental causes," said Betsy Loyless, LCV Vice President for Policy. "He has been a fighter for clean air, usable land and making sure polluters pay."

Rep. Jackson represents a heavily industrialized district in Chicago, and is concerned with environmental justice issues. In his book, A More Perfect Union, he discusses his support for the right to a clean, safe, and sustainable environment. Rep. Jackson has an outstanding 97% lifetime LCV score and earned a perfect score in 2003.
