Contact: Chuck Porcari (cell: (240) 286-7566) or Mark Sokolove (cell: (703) 599-7656) or (202) 785-8683 WASHINGTON - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the political voice of the national environmental and conservation community, today announced its endorsement of Rep. John Dingell (D-MI) for reelection in Michigan³ 15th Congressional district. "LCV endorsed Rep. John Dingell because of his continuing leadership on environmental and conservation issues, and as ranking Democrat on the Energy & Commerce Committee, fighting against a deeply flawed energy bill that rewards polluters and special interests at the expense of the health and safety of Michigan citizens," said Betsy Loyless, LCV Vice President for Policy. This year, Dingell scored a 95% on the 2003 LCV Scorecard and led a successful fight to fend off the Bush Dirty Water rule as well as proposing legislation to safeguard the original intent of the Clean Water Act in protecting all the nation's waters. Rep. Dingell was one of the original authors of the Endangered Species Act, the National Environmental Policy Act as well as the original Clean Water Act.
