Bob Beauprez (R-7) for taking thousands of dollars in contributions from makers of a potential carcinogen found in over 20 sites in his home district, and then voting for a special interest provision in the House energy bill to shield the makers of the chemical MTBE from lawsuits. The ad, titled ôEnergy,ö will begin airing in the Denver marker today. ôRep. Beauprez has made clear that his priorities lie with polluting big energy and not his constituents,ö said LCV Senior Vice President for Political Affairs Mark Longabaugh. ôThis ad is designed to remind voters in the Seventh District that he would rather take money from corporate polluters than protect the interests of the people back home.ö Longabaugh went on to say, ôBeauprezÆs excuse for his vote has been nothing less than ridiculous. As Denver Post columnist Jim Spencer said æEarth to Bob: If producers of a potentially poisonous chemical give you 25 grand, the money speaks for itself.Æö Read the script and backup of the ad. (PDF)
