WASHINGTON, DC - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the political voice of the national environmental community, today launched a new TV ad criticizing U.S. Senatorial candidate Pete Coors (R) for polluting Colorado's air and water as head of the Coors Brewing Company. The ad is part of an aggressive, multi-layered campaign to educate Colorado residents about Coors' terrible record, and includes a new Website www.polluterpete.com.

The TV ad, titled "Polluter Pete," starts running today through Election Day in the Denver market.

In addition to the television spot, www.polluterpete.com includes specifics about Coor's terrible record on clean air and clean water issues.  The web site also includes other elements of the campaign: three direct mail pieces and a banner ad with a flash file running in the online publications of several Colorado newspapers.

"'Polluter Pete' Coors is an environmental disaster.  While he was CEO of the Coors Company, the brewery was ranked as one of the top three polluters in Colorado. The Coors Company illegally spilled 77,000 gallons of beer into the creek near Golden and killed 50,000 fish," said LCV Senior Vice President for Political Affairs Mark Longabaugh.  "After several environmental violations, the Coors Company under "Polluter Pete" helped draft what critics called Colorado's "Polluter Protection Act."

"As the political voice of the national environmental community, we encourage Colorado residents to go to our web site, www.polluterpete.com to learn more about Peter Coors  record as an environmental diaster," added Mr. Longabaugh.
