WASHINGTON - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the political voice of the national environmental and conservation community, today named four incumbent U.S. Senators, a Senate candidate and 13 sitting Representatives as 2004 Environmental Champions. 

LCV Environmental Champions are candidates who have proven their pro-environment commitment through substantive action.  LCV supports these outstanding leaders by rewarding them with direct contributions, fundraising, and occasionally running independent campaigns to help ensure they are reelected to Congress as we continue to build America's pro-environment majority.

"This year's Environmental Champions have all proven their strong pro-environmental credentials through leadership in Congress fighting for clean air, safe drinking water, protecting public lands and advancing sound, long-term energy solutions," said Betsy Loyless, LCV Vice President for Policy. "LCV will be working hard through Election Day to help make sure these champions are elected."
