WASHINGTON - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), the political voice of the national environmental and conservation community, today named Rep. Dennis Moore (D) as a 2004 Environmental Champion in his race for reelection to the 3rd district of Kansas.
LCV Environmental Champions are candidates who have proven their pro-environment commitment through their substantive action. LCV supports these outstanding leaders by rewarding them with direct contributions, fundraising, and occasionally running independent campaigns to help ensure they are reelected to Congress as we continue to build America³ pro-environment majority.
mportant advocate in Congress for investing in a long term sustainable energy policy that will more effectively meet our nation³ energy needs while reducing pollution of our air and water.ce President for Policy. an be proud of Rep. Moore³ work to ensure the water they drink and the air they breathe is clean and safe,/p>
Rep. Moore earned a 95% LCV score in 2003. He has consistently supported tax incentives that would help reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and increase our energy efficiency by seeking alternative fuel sources.
Moore has also opposed the recent federal policy guidance that raised questions about the long-standing jurisdiction of the Clean Water Act. The guidance will have an immediate impact on wetlands, creeks, and streams and could mark the beginning of a longer process that could severely undermine the effectiveness of the Clean Water Act. Moore is committed to keeping all of America waters clean and safe.
Rep. Moore has repeatedly fought to protect our federal parks and wilderness. He voted to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from corporate interests who wanted to put wildlife at risk in exchange for a six month supply of oil in ten years.
