WASHINGTON ~³ervation Voters (LCV), the political voice of the national environmental and conservation community, today named Representative Hilda Solis (D) as a 2004 Environmental Champion in her race for reelection to the U.S. Congress in the 32nd district of California.
LCV Environmental Champions are candidates who have proven their pro-environment commitment through their substantive action. LCV supports these outstanding leaders by rewarding them with direct contributions, fundraising, and occasionally running independent campaigns to help ensure they are reelected to Congress as we continue to build America³ pro-environment majority.

She has demonstrated her commitment to environmental protection to improve the health of her constituents and all Americans.
Solis³ San Gabriel River Watershed Study Act was passed into law in July 2003. This law provides for study of flood control, water quality, and land preservation in the San Gabriel Valley.
In May 2003, Solis cosponsored the Environmental Justice Act of 2003. This would require the Federal government to consider disproportionate health and environmental effects on minority and low-income communities.
Solis is the first Latina to serve on the House Energy and Comerce Committee and ranking member of the Enivornment and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee. She has earned a perfect lifetime score of 100% on the LCV scorecard in her two terms in Congress.
