New Clean Water Legislation Seeks to Undo One of Bush Era’s Biggest Errors

In response to today’s re-introduction of Senator Feingold’s Clean Water Restoration Act, League of Conservation Voters Legislative Representative Hasan Nazar issued the following statement:

“Today, Senator Feingold renewed the fight to fix one of President Bush’s most staggering anti-environment legacies by re-introducing the Clean Water Restoration Act.

“Among the first priorities of the Bush agenda was removing many of the safeguards of the thirty year old Clean Water Act, giving corporate polluters the power to dump toxins and other hazardous materials into our nation’s rivers and streams.

“LCV applauds Senator Feingold for seizing this opportunity to right old wrongs and to defend the health and safety of the American people.  This bill sets the purity of the water that we drink above the petty interests of corporate lobbyists, and we look forward to advancing this legislation as part of a new era of pro-environment policy.”
