President Obama Moves the Ball Forward

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, President Obama will sign the American Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law.  League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:

“America has punted on clean energy and global warming legislation for far too long. Today, President Obama moved the ball down the field and put America in position to score.  

“The economic recovery package is an unprecedented leap towards clean, renewable energy.  It sets us up to pass future global warming and clean energy bills that will stimulate our economy, improve national security, and protect our planet.  The next play will permanently cap America’s global warming pollution and we know that President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Senator Reid can get it done.”
