Secretary of Energy Samuel Wright Bodman
Samuel Wright Bodman was sworn in as Secretary of Energy on February 1, 2005. Previously, Bodman served as Deputy Secretary of the Treasury. He also served the Bush Administration as the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Commerce beginning in 2001. Bodman is a former President and Chief Operating Officer of Fidelity Investments and a Director of the Fidelity Group of Mutual Funds. He is also a former Chairman, CEO, and Director of Cabot Corporation, a Boston-based chemical firm that frequently circumvented state and federal environmental laws. He is a strong advocate for desecrating the pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge by opening it up to oil drilling. His record all too clearly indicates that Bodman plans to put the interests of big polluters above those of public health, safety, and the environment.
