EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson Stephen L. Johnson became Acting Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on January 26, 2005 and was later confirmed by the Senate. Johnson has spent the past 24 years at EPA, most recently serving as the EPA's Deputy Administrator. Among his numerous EPA positions, Johnson was the Assistant Administrator of EPA's Office of Prevention, Pesticides, and Toxic Substances and Deputy Director of the Office of Pesticide Programs.
