House Energy and Commerce Committee The House Energy & Commerce Committee has developed one of the broadest jurisdictions of all Congressional Committees. It maintains responsibility for legislative oversight concerning public health, air quality and environmental health, and the supply and delivery of energy. The Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality's jurisdiction includes national energy policy, nuclear energy and waste, and the Clean Air Act while the Subcommittee on Environment and Hazardous Materials oversees the Safe Drinking Water Act, Superfund and RCRA, and mining, oil, gas and coal combustion waste issues.
