House Resources Committee:
Fisheries Conservation, Wildlife, and Oceans Subcommittee
The Subcommittee deals with three broad environmental areas: fisheries management and research, wildlife resources and oceans. The fisheries management and research area covers managing all commercial and recreational fisheries, the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, interjurisdictional fisheries, international fisheries agreements, aquaculture, seafood safety, and fisheries promotion. Wildlife resources, such as research, restoration, refuges, and conservation also fall under the Subcommittee's jurisdiction. In terms of oceans, the Subcommittee governs matters pertaining to the protection of coastal, marine and estuarine environments, oceanography, coastal barriers, ocean engineering, marine sanctuaries and coastal zone management.
