House Resources Committee:
National Parks, Recreation, and Public Lands Subcommittee
The Subcommittee on National Parks, Recreation and Public Lands has jurisdiction over the National Park System, including federal reserve water rights, the National Wilderness Preservation System, Wild and Scenic Rivers System, and the National Trails System. It also includes Federal and non-Federal outdoor recreation plans and programs, including the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and public lands in general, such as matters relating to entry, easements, withdrawals, grazing, Federal reserved water rights, forfeiture of land grants, and alien ownership of mineral lands.
Rep. George Radanovich (R-CA 19) chairs the Subcommittee on National Parks, Recreation and Public Lands. A former County Supervisor, Radanovich was elected to represent California's 19th District in 1994. Congressman Radanovich's scored a mere 5% in 2003 and a 5% for the entire 107th Congress on LCV's National Environmental Scorecard. In the last six years, he has cast only 5 pro-environment votes out of a possible 84. Included in his anti-environment votes was his support of California coastal drilling.
Rep. Donna Christensen (D-VI AL) is the Ranking Democrat on the Subcommittee on National Parks, Recreation and Public Lands. She has represented the Virgin Islands since 1996, and in doing so, became the first female physician in the U.S. Congress and the first female Delegate from the Virgin Islands. Because she can not cast a vote, LCV does not have a score for Donna Christensen.
