Issues: Support Obama's Landmark Clean Energy Package

Updated: 01/26/09

Before the banks burned and before the housing crisis caught fire, it was soaring gas prices that sparked this economic wildfire. President Obama's economic recovery package seizes the opportunity to put out today’s flames and prevent future flare-ups by putting millions of Americans to work to end our crippling addiction to oil.

The bill passed the House of Representatives, and now it’s up to the U.S. Senate to pass this package, the largest investment in energy efficiency and clean, renewable energy in the history of this country.  Will you call your Senators and tell them to support a clean energy economic recovery?

Calling your Senators is easy.  Here is the information you need:

WHO:
Call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to speak to your Senator.

WHEN:
TODAY, Tuesday, February 3

WHAT TO SAY:
Tell the legislative staffer who answers that:

I am calling to ask the Senator to strengthen and vote for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

As a constituent, I believe that we should invest in clean energy to create jobs today and strengthen our economy for future generations.
I want my Senator to support amendments to maximize the investment in clean energy so that we can end our addiction to oil and protect our planet from global warming.

After you've made your call, please visit our feedback page and tell us how the calls went.

We would like to have as many calls as possible reach the Senate today.  If you can't make the calls today, please call your Senators before the February 4 vote on the bill.

This bill will be a great step towards a clean energy future.  Thank you for your help in making it law.
