Public Lands and Forests Subcommittee
The Public Lands and Forests Subcommittee's jurisdiction includes public lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management, the Fish and Wildlife Service (the National Wildlife Refuge System), and U.S. Forest Service. It is also responsible for the national policy on natural resource extraction from federal lands.
Senator Larry Craig (R-ID) chairs the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests. He served as a U.S. Representative to Idaho's 1st District ten years before his election to the Senate in 1990. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) is the Ranking Member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests. He served as a member off the U.S. House of Representatives to Oregon's 3rd District from 1980-1996. In 2002 he voted to protect the president's authority to create national monuments under the Antiquities Act. Sen. Wyden's 2003 LCV score is 89%.
