Local Grassroots Organizing
In the environmental community, Chispa is unique. We are one of the only environmental groups engaged
in traditional grassroots organizing that connects Latino communities to their local climate and energy
concerns and fosters environmental leaders in these communities.
In the long term, we’re committed to building powerful Latino communities whose environmental voice
cannot be ignored.
In 2014, working together with our state leagues in New Mexico and Colorado, we launched three programs
that engage existing Latino communities with local environmental concerns: Juntos in New Mexico, Protégete
in Colorado, and Chispa Arizona. Maryland LCV also launched its own Latino program the same year. In 2015 we launched Chispa Nevada. Learn more about each of the programs below — and get involved!
