Climate Action Iowa advocates for sound environmental laws and policies, working to turn environmental values into local, state and national priorities. Our team recruits and mobilizes grassroots support to protect and defend commonsense solutions, like the Clean Power Plan, while holding elected officials accountable for their stance on the issues. Clean energy and water quality are important to Iowans and we want to make sure their voices are heard.
Our Organizers work in Des Moines and Iowa City, connecting everyone from college students to business leaders to work together on these issues, because the work is too large and too important to leave anyone out.
In fall 2015, Climate Action IA organized a series of water town hall events at four campuses around the state. Students and community members heard from experts on the water quality issues facing Iowans and what they can do to fix them. This series shone a light on how local environmental issues can be, but more importantly brought people together to organize toward a common goal and make environmental issues a priority in their town.
