Washington, D.C.– In response to President Trump’s proposed 2020 budget which calls for cutting the Environmental Protection Agency’s budget by 31%, Former EPA Administrator and League of Conservation Voters Board Chair Carol M. Browner released the following statement:

“The White House proposed 2020 budget is a blueprint for failure, especially at the Environmental Protection Agency where they have slashed the budget by 31%.  This isn’t a budget for a better America, it’s a budget for a sicker, dirtier America. The federal budget is about identifying priorities and driving investments that protect families across the country. The EPA budget truly is about how we prioritize clean air, clean water, stopping deadly pollution and holding polluters accountable. This budget fails to accomplish any of those priorities. This is the third time this administration has attempted to eviscerate the EPA and Congress has stepped in to block these cuts in previous budgets. They should do so again, and provide a budget for the EPA that supports their critical mission to protect our health and our environment.”
