WASHINGTON, DC—The California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) and the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, announced today their endorsement of Bryan Caforio for Congress (CA-25). Caforio is committed to fighting climate change, growing our clean energy economy and addressing environmental crises like the Aliso Canyon gas leak in Porter Ranch, California.

“The residents of Los Angeles and Ventura counties deserve a representative who is going to always protect public health and fight for green jobs not someone who sat idly by and did nothing while his constituents were sick and forced from their homes,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “This November, voters have a clear choice with environmental champion Bryan Caforio. He has a record of standing up for California families. We’re excited to have his voice and energy in Congress.”

Steve Knight, I do believe in climate change and look forward to working with LCV to fight pollution in the 25th District.”

Bryan Caforio was born and raised in Southern California. His parents were both public school teachers. He is currently on leave from Susman Godfrey, where he is a partner practicing commercial litigation law. Caforio is making environmental issues a central piece of his campaign, especially the urgent need to address the risks of underground natural gas storage and prevent future disasters like the one at Aliso Canyon in Porter Ranch, which is located in the 25th Congressional District. The methane leak began in October 2015 and lasted 16 weeks, becoming the largest single natural gas leak in U.S. history and negatively impacting the health of families in the area and California’s efforts to reduce the pollution contributing to climate change. In contrast, Caforio’s opponent, Congressman Steve Knight, did not visit the site until January. Caforio unveiled a responsible legislative solution, the Nation Overcoming Leaking Emissions by Acting Knowingly and Controlling Toxins (NO LEAK ACT), which would strengthen regulations and assist local agencies responding to the crisis while ensuring access to justice for victims.
