Washington, D.C. – League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund Senior Vice President Tiernan Sittenfeld issued the following statement following the primary victories of LCV Action Fund-endorsed congressional candidates Beto O’Rourke (TX-SEN), Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Sylvia Garcia (TX-29):

“Last night’s resounding victories for Representative Beto O’Rourke, Judge Veronica Escobar and Senator Sylvia Garcia demonstrate that the people of Texas want their elected officials to stand up for clean air and clean water for all communities. Representative O’Rourke has been a strong voice for conservation and public lands and is well-positioned to take on Senator Cruz. Both Judge Escobar and Senator Garcia have tackled head-on the challenges of environmental injustices in their communities and fought for healthier and safer neighborhoods for everyone. Now they are poised to bring this commitment to Congress and make history along the way as the first Latinas to represent Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.”
