Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Betsy Dirksen Londrigan for Congress in Illinois’ 13th District.

“Betsy Dirksen Londrigan knows that access to clean air and water is a basic human right,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “She will be a strong voice in Congress for reducing the pollution driving climate change and is committed to upgrading our nation’s infrastructure to reduce lead poisoning and move our nation toward energy independence. We are proud to support her campaign.”

“I am proud to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Betsy Dirksen Londrigan. “I thank LCV for their devotion to protecting our earth for future generations and look forward to working with them once elected to Congress. I too am committed to making sure all of our children have clean water to drink, clean air to breathe and public lands to explore. I’m looking forward to working with LCV to fight for investments in modern infrastructure so families in the 13th district benefit economically from our move toward energy independence.”

Betsy Dirksen Londrigan was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. After college she started and directed the alumni association for the University of Illinois-Springfield. Later, Dirksen Londrigan started her own business, working with a variety of clients including Senator Dick Durbin and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation. Since her own son’s illness, she has helped raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network and advocated for pediatric children’s hospitals. Dirksen Londrigan also co-founded Women Rising, an organization that supports women running for local and state elected office. In Congress, Dirksen Londrigan will fight for investments in clean, modernized infrastructure, full funding of the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and work to reduce methane emissions and eradicate lead poisoning.
