Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of David Trone for Congress in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District.

“LCV Action Fund is pleased to endorse David Trone for Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He is committed to investing in the green technologies that will power our clean energy future and protecting important environmental safeguards. We know he will be a leader in Congress, and we are looking forward to working with him to address the climate crisis.”

“David Trone will fight for clean air and waterways for all of Maryland,” said Maryland League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Karla Raettig. “We can count on him to stand up to the Trump administration’s attempts to undermine Chesapeake Bay restoration, and we are eager to work with him in Congress to build a healthier Maryland for the next generation.”

“I’m honored to have the support of one of the nation’s leading environmental protection organizations,” said David Trone. “LCV Action Fund fights for policies that are crucial for the future of our planet. We must protect our planet for our children, which means investing in clean energy and green technology and fighting to preserve important environmental protection policies.”

About David Trone

Born in Cheverly, Maryland, David spent his childhood feeding hogs and cleaning chicken pens on a struggling family farm, and showing animals at local fairs as a member of the 4H. He went to graduate school on student loans and opened his first store during his second semester. From one store, Total Wine & More has become the largest independent wine retailer in the United States and will end the year with close to 7,000 team members in 191 stores across 22 states.  Their national headquarters and two stores are here in Maryland. Trone and his family have supported many philanthropic efforts over the years, including the Trone Center for Justice and Equality at the ACLU, the Wharton Public Policy Initiative, and Suburban Hospital’s mental health and addiction programs. In Congress, he will prioritize keeping our air and water clean, taking action to reduce carbon pollution, and investing in renewable energy technology and infrastructure.
