Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of George Scott for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 10th District.

“George Scott has spent his life in public service both as a veteran and a pastor, and he will be an incredible advocate for our environment in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He understands the importance of protecting our air, water, lands and wildlife for the health and well-being of Pennsylvania’s families and economy. We look forward to working with him to address the climate crisis and are proud to endorse his campaign.”

“Pennsylvanians can count on George Scott to stand with them in the fight for clean water and climate action,” said Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania Executive Director Josh McNeil. “He served our country and our community with honor in the Army and as a pastor and we know that he will continue to protect future generations of Pennsylvanians as a member of Congress.”

“As one of the premier environmental organizations in our country, I am proud to have earned the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund endorsement,” said George Scott. “Climate change is the most pressing environmental challenge facing our planet. I am committed to advocating for policies that address climate change’s threats to our economy, health, and environment. We have an obligation to our children and grandchildren to take immediate action.”

George Scott grew up in Adams County, Pennsylvania on a beef cattle farm near Littlestown. He graduated from Georgetown with a degree in International Politics. Scott had a distinguished 20-year career in the Army during which he served in Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, Panama, and South Korea. After leaving the Army, Scott went to the CIA and worked in the Middle East Division and then as a contractor in Iraq where he trained U.S. commanders in counter-insurgency operations. In 2009, Scott entered the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg and became a pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in East Berlin where he continues to serve today. In Congress, he will focus on climate action and standing up to assaults on our bedrock environmental laws.
