Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of George Scott for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 10th District.

“George Scott has spent his life in public service both as a veteran and a pastor, and he will be an incredible advocate for our environment in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He understands the importance of protecting our air, water, lands and wildlife for the health and well-being of Pennsylvania’s families and economy. We look forward to working with him to address the climate crisis and are proud to endorse his campaign.”

George Scott grew up in Adams County, Pennsylvania on a beef cattle farm near Littlestown. He graduated from Georgetown with a degree in International Politics. Scott had a distinguished 20-year career in the Army during which he served in Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, Panama, and South Korea. After leaving the Army, Scott went to the CIA and worked in the Middle East Division and then as a contractor in Iraq where he trained U.S. commanders in counter-insurgency operations. In 2009, Scott entered the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg and became a pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in East Berlin where he continues to serve today. In Congress, he will focus on climate action and standing up to assaults on our bedrock environmental laws.
