LCV Action Fund Endorses Jacky Rosen for Congress

Jul 14, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC— The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Jacky Rosen for Congress (NV-03). Rosen is committed to expanding Nevada’s clean energy economy and protecting the state’s parks and public lands.

“As an experienced businesswoman and community leader, Jacky Rosen understands the challenges facing Nevada and will be a staunch advocate for the state’s economy, environment and families,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “We are thrilled to endorse her because we know that in Congress, she will work to protect public health and preserve our magnificent public lands for generations to come.”

“Jacky Rosen is a real leader who has worked tirelessly for her community and all of southern Nevada,” said Andy Maggi, Executive Director of the Nevada Conservation League. “She led the effort to expand the use of solar power in her synagogue, helping to save money and protect the environment, and she is committed to accelerating our transition to clean energy across Nevada”

“I’m grateful to have the endorsement and support of LCVAF, and I look forward to working together in Congress to protect our public lands, expand clean energy production and take action to address climate change and drought in Southern Nevada,” said Rosen. “When I served as President of Congregation Ner Tamid in Henderson, I was proud to lead a team to build one of the largest solar projects for a nonprofit in our community. I’ve seen firsthand how investing in clean energy creates jobs, reduces utility bills and protects our environment. My opponent Danny Tarkanian wants to sell off our public lands and turn Yucca Mountain into a nuclear waste dump, and he embraces extreme conspiracy theories that climate change is a hoax.”

Jacky Rosen began her career as a computer programmer and software developer for prominent southern Nevada companies. For the past three years, she served as president of Congregation Ner Tamid in Henderson, the state’s largest synagogue, where she worked closely with other community leaders, non-profits, and partner organizations to address issues facing working families and seniors, including education, health care and economic security. At the synagogue, she helped to install solar panels, the largest clean energy project at a nonprofit in Henderson. On the campaign trail, Rosen has made growing Nevada’s clean energy a top priority.

Rosen is featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions for federal office.

About LCV Action Fund

The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund (LCVAF), the connected federal political action committee (PAC) of the League of Conservation Voters, works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental laws and policies, and defeat those who stand in the way of progress. Since the 1994 election cycle, LCVAF has helped elect and re-elect 69 U.S. Senators and 306 members of the U.S. House of Representatives.  In the 2013-2014 election cycle, LCVAF endorsed over 70 candidates and raised and donated almost $6 million dollars via GiveGreen. Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
