LCV Action Fund Endorses Jason Walser for Congress

Jun 4, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC—The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced its endorsement today of Jason Walser for North Carolina’s thirteenth Congressional District. The former executive director of The LandTrust for Central North Carolina, Walser is a long-time conservation champion.

“Jason Walser is an exciting, pragmatic and commonsense voice for North Carolina’s environment and we are thrilled to support him in this important election,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld.  “He has already made an enormous impact on protecting central North Carolina’s special places for future generations, and we are excited by what he can accomplish in Congress for conservation and growing our clean energy economy.”

“From our beaches to the Piedmont to our western mountains, our state has so many beautiful open spaces and natural wonders,” said North Carolina League of Conservation Voters (NCLCV) Director of Government Relations Dan Crawford. “Jason Walser has been a true leader in protecting our North Carolina way of life, and ensuring that all families across our state continue to have access to our public lands, lakes and rivers. Because of his efforts, many natural treasures will still be here for our children and grandchildren.”

Jason Walser was born and raised in North Carolina’s thirteenth Congressional District, growing up in Statesville and living in Salisbury since 1999. Spending his summers as a child on Lake Norman gave him a deep and personal respect for our environment.  From 1999 to 2015, he worked at The LandTrust for Central North Carolina, including fourteen years as executive director, helping to protect more than 22,000 acres of farm and forest land, as well as many public game lands and public access areas to rivers and lakes in a 10-county area in the Yadkin River Basin.  Walser has been active in local smart development and environmental organizations, including serving as chairman of the Rowan County Strategic Planning Commission, chairman of the N.C. Land Trust Council, and as a board member of RiverPark at Cooleemee Falls.

Walser is featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions for federal office.

Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
