Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Lisa Brown for Congress (WA-5).

“Lisa Brown has been a tireless public servant for the people and environment of eastern Washington,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Her leadership in the state senate has helped make Washington one of the greenest states in the nation and we are so excited to endorse her campaign for Congress so she can bring that same track record of success to our nation’s capital.”

“From restoring the health of the Spokane River to protecting rural public lands, Lisa Brown has proven she’s relentless in protecting people’s health in Eastern Washington and standing up for the environment,” said Washington Conservation Voters President Shannon Murphy. “We’ve seen first-hand her ability to bring people to the table to solve our biggest challenges. She’s rooted in her district and has the right experience to bring this community together and fight for all of us.”

“People who live in Eastern Washington cherish our natural environment,” said Lisa Brown. “Our rivers, forests, and land sustain us, and we head outdoors for recreation year-round. I’ll work in Congress for protection of air and water quality, continued cleanup of contaminated sites, healthy forests, and renewable energy.”

Throughout her twenty-year career in the Washington state legislature, Lisa Brown made cleaning up and protecting the Spokane River a priority. She also worked on issues surrounding Washington’s Renewable Portfolio Standard, toxic cleanups from mining operations, and land-use permitting and watershed issues. Serving as the Senate Majority Leader and the chair of the energy committee, she has been instrumental in much of the progress that the state of Washington has made on environmental and clean energy issues. For her efforts, she earned a lifetime score of 91% on Washington Conservation Voters’ Environmental Scorecard. In Congress, Brown will fight for eastern Washington’s environment, including protecting our waterways, forest and salmon, and investing in clean energy.
