Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Lucy McBath for Congress in Georgia’s 6th District.

“Lucy McBath has made the health and safety of children and families her life’s work,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We know she will bring that passion to Congress as she fights for clean air and water for every community in Georgia and across the country. We look forward to working with her to address climate change and grow Georgia’s clean energy economy and could not be more excited to endorse her campaign.”

“I have a deep respect and appreciation for our environment,” said Lucy McBath. Some of my fondest memories growing up come from taking long walks through nature with my father. In Georgia, it is imperative that we fight hard for conservation from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains to the Savannah River. I plan to do all that I can to build a new clean energy infrastructure and preserve our public spaces.”

Lucy McBath grew up in Joliet, Illinois and graduated from Virginia State University. McBath moved to Atlanta and had a 30-year career as a flight attendant with Delta Airlines. In 2012, her 17-year old son was tragically shot and killed at a gas station in Jacksonville, Florida, by a man who objected to the loud music he was playing in his car. Following his death, McBath became active in the gun safety movement and as the national spokesperson and Faith and Outreach leader for Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. In Congress, she will fight for clean air and clean water for all communities, to grow Georgia’s clean energy economy, and to tackle the climate crisis.
