Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Matt Morgan for Congress in Michigan’s 1st District.

“Matt Morgan has dedicated his career to defending our nation,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “As a veteran, he understands the threat that climate change poses to our military infrastructure and national security and he is committed to counter these threats by taking action to reduce carbon pollution. We are proud to endorse his campaign because we know he will be a powerful voice in Congress for public health, clean water, and environmental protections.”

Matt Morgan graduated from the University of Illinois, then joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He was commissioned for over 20 years, serving two tours in the Iraq War and completing missions in the Middle East and Africa. He worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense in both Republican and Democratic administrations, focused on combating violent extremism. After retiring as a lieutenant colonel, he and his family moved to northern Michigan. In addition to fighting for climate action, Morgan is committed to protecting clean water and full funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
