Washington, DC—The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Sarah Lloyd for Congress (WI-6). Lloyd is a longtime advocate for clean water and clean energy in Wisconsin.

“As a farmer and advocate for sustainable agriculture, Sarah Lloyd will be an important voice in pushing for more clean energy development, especially in rural communities,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “In Congress, she will bring an important perspective and experience to effectively advocate for clean air, clean water and more open spaces for our children and grandchildren to enjoy.”

“I have worked with Sarah Lloyd on important issues facing Wisconsinites, and I know she will continue to fight to protect our water, air, and land for both Wisconsin and the country as a whole,” said Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Kerry Schumann. “She will work tirelessly to bring local stakeholders together to tackle our nation’s biggest environmental challenges, such as moving towards wider implementation of sustainable agriculture practices that will help improve water quality.”

“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund. It is thanks to their efforts, that so many pro-environment candidates like myself are now finding their voices heard in a political system that so often ignores these very important issues,” said candidate Sarah Lloyd, “I look forward to working together with LCV, to help implement my plan for Wisconsin which includes clean energy, clean water, and good food.”

Throughout Sarah Lloyd’s career, she has worked on environmental and natural resources issues. She received her master’s degree from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and a Ph.D. in Rural Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After college, she worked with USAID on Siberian forest protections in Russia. Lloyd has partnered with Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters to reduce runoff and encourage clean energy development. She works as a dairy farmer, and for the Wisconsin Farmers Union and the Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative. Lloyd was appointed in 2013 by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack to represent the dairy farmers of Wisconsin on the National Dairy Board. She also served from 2008 to 2014 in an elected position on the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and on the Columbia County Board of Supervisors from 2004 to 2007.

Lloyd is featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions for federal office.
