LCV Action Fund Endorses Terri Bonoff for Congress

Jul 14, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC— The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of State Senator Terri Bonoff for Congress (MN-03). Bonoff is dedicated to growing the clean energy economy and preserving our natural resources.

“In the State Senate, Terri Bonoff stands up for Minnesotans and our environment by working to conserve our public lands and wildlife for all to enjoy,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “Bonoff is a staunch advocate of protecting our precious waterways and drinking water, safeguarding them from toxic pollutants. In Congress, she will be an important voice in our ongoing fight to tackle climate change and continue to invest in the clean, renewable energy sources that create good-paying jobs for Minnesotans.”

“Some of our Nation’s most pristine natural wonders are found in our treasured state, Minnesota. We are fortunate to be surrounded by environmental majesty and an abundance of natural resources, which we are obligated to protect,” Bonoff said. “I am proud to receive this endorsement as it reflects the values I hold dear.  I grew up having a cabin in the boundary waters that burned down in the Ham Lake fire of 2007. From my earliest days I was taught to treasure and preserve the wilderness.  My opponent’s 16% lifetime rating stands in contrast to my record. I promise to uphold my commitment to the environment if elected to Congress and look forward to working with LCV.”

Bonoff has been a longtime community leader, serving as a member of the Minnetonka Planning Commission before serving in the MN State Senate. Since 2005, Bonoff has represented District 44 in the Minnesota Senate, where she has been a leader in efforts to increase renewable energy standards and protect Minnesota’s precious waters from pollution and invasive species. On the campaign trail, Bonoff is making clean water and combating climate change a focal point.

Bonoff is featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions for federal office.

About LCV Action Fund

The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund (LCVAF), the connected federal political action committee (PAC) of the League of Conservation Voters, works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental laws and policies, and defeat those who stand in the way of progress. Since the 1994 election cycle, LCVAF has helped elect and re-elect 69 U.S. Senators and 306 members of the U.S. House of Representatives.  In the 2013-2014 election cycle, LCVAF endorsed over 70 candidates and raised and donated almost $6 million dollars via GiveGreen. Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
