Washington, D.C. — The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) today launched a new $70,000 radio advertising campaign in North Carolina calling out Senators Thom Tillis and Richard Burr for not standing up to President Trump’s rollback of Obama-era clean car standards.

Carbon pollution from cars is the largest domestic source of the pollution that contributes to climate change, yet the Trump administration is trying to reverse clean cars standards and put even more dirty pollution in the United States’ increasingly unhealthy air. The overwhelming majority of people in the United States support standards that reduce carbon pollution from cars, increase fuel economy, protect our health and save drivers money at the pump.

“Shame on Senators Tillis and Burr for siding with Trump and corporate polluters over the health and well-being of North Carolinians,” said Tiernan Sittenfeld, LCV SVP of Government Affairs. “The people of North Carolina deserve better.”

Radio Ad Script

President Trump is waging an unprecedented, all out assault on our air quality
He is trying to gut strong tailpipe pollution standards
It’s a dangerous plan that threatens our health,
worsens the climate crisis and costs us more at the pump
But instead of protecting us,
Senators Thom Tillis and Richard Burr are refusing to stand up to President Trump
Call Senators Thom Tillis and Burr at 202-224-3121
and tell them to stand up for our right to set strong clean car standards
