Manchester, NH — In advance of the New Hampshire Democratic Primary Debate, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) issued the following statement from Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld:

“It’s been quite a week, but there is one clear winner in the 2020 election so far: climate action. In Iowa, entrance polls found that climate change was the second most important issue behind healthcare for caucusgoers, and here in New Hampshire climate is the decisive number one most important issue for primary voters.

“On a day when the temperature in Antarctica has climbed to a historically hot 65 degrees, ABC and WMUR have a responsibility to ask the candidates about their climate policies early and often in tonight’s debate, and the candidates should take every opportunity to talk about their plans to make climate action a very top priority starting on day one and every day as president. The 2020 election is our last, best chance to address the climate crisis.”

Tiernan is available to media today/tonight in Manchester. Contact emily_samsel@lcv.org to arrange a meeting.
